Hobby Center for the Performing Arts

The Hobby Center for the Performing Arts is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit performing arts center in downtown Houston, at 800 Bagby Street. Opened in 2002, it presents world-class performances, touring Broadway productions, concerts and educational programming, and works as a connector and incubator for Houston audiences, artists and arts organizations.

The centre operates three venues. Sarofim Hall, a 2,650-seat grand performance space, is Houston's home for touring Broadway and Theatre Under the Stars productions. Zilkha Hall is a versatile space for a wide range of events and experimental programming, while The Founders Club hosts more intimate gatherings and performances. Together these spaces cover large-scale theatrical presentation as well as smaller-scale and exploratory work.

Programmes extend beyond the mainstage. The Houston Is Inspired residency programme fosters artist engagement and community discovery through live performance; the Sensory Inclusive Series provides programming designed for audiences of all abilities; and the Hobby Center Educator Network supplies educational resources and engagement opportunities for educators.

Work at the centre spans live performance production, theatrical venue operations, sensory-inclusive programming and arts education. Its stated commitments include accessibility, diversity and community engagement, with the aim of fostering a sense of belonging for Houstonians of all backgrounds and abilities.
