Absurd Ventures

Absurd Ventures is a storytelling-driven entertainment company that develops original intellectual property across video games, film and television, audio fiction, comic books, graphic novels and books. Founded by Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games and known for Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, the company is based in Santa Monica, California, with additional locations. Its work spans open-world game development, transmedia storytelling, world-building, animation and live-action production.

Two open-world, action-adventure video games are in development. A Better Paradise is set within the company's science-fiction fictional universe; Absurdaverse is set within its comedy satire fictional universe. Alongside games, the company publishes through Absurd Ventures Press, an imprint distributed by Simon & Schuster, and has released the comic book series American Caper in partnership with Dark Horse Comics.

The company brings together talent from across the entertainment industry, with a stated focus on narrative excellence and world-building and a transmedia approach spanning games, film, television, audio, comics and books. Its philanthropic arm, the Absurd Ventures Foundation, runs ecological conservation and youth programs worldwide.
