University of Arkansas

The University of Arkansas is the flagship institution of the University of Arkansas System and the state's first land-grant college, founded in 1871 in Fayetteville. It serves a record 34,161 students - 29,252 undergraduates and 4,508 graduate students - across 10 colleges and schools, offering more than 220 degree programmes at baccalaaurate, master's, doctoral, professional and specialist levels.

The university is classified by the Carnegie Foundation among the top 2 percent of institutions with the highest level of research activity. Research funding reached a record $252.9 million in fiscal year 2025, with particular strength in areas such as supply chain management: the Sam M. Walton College of Business is ranked first in that field by Gartner. The institution's annual economic impact on Arkansas exceeds $4 billion.

For staff, the appeal is as much about setting as scale. The campus sits in the Ozark Mountains, in a place repeatedly recognised as one of the nation's best to live, and the university emphasises quality of life alongside its academic work. Institutional priorities include student success, academic discovery and innovation; $60 million in scholarships was awarded last year, with half of Arkansas students receiving financial support.
