Baltimore Public Media is a nonprofit public media organisation founded in 2021 that produces news, music, arts and cultural programming for the Baltimore region across radio and digital formats. Its output spans audio production, podcasting and journalism, with creative work concentrated in two listener-supported radio stations and a slate of original podcasts.
The organisation is the parent of WYPR 88.1 FM, a station carrying news and cultural programming, and WTMD 89.7 FM, which focuses on music and cultural programming and was acquired from Towson University in November 2021. Baltimore Public Media also produces five podcasts: Thoughts on Tech & Things, Maryland Unfolded, Five Minutes of Baltimore History, The Stoop and Know It All. The rebranding to Baltimore Public Media was launched in January 2023.
Geographic coverage extends across the Baltimore, Maryland metropolitan area, Western Maryland and Maryland's Eastern Shore. Baltimore Public Media is funded by Corporation for Public Broadcasting grants and individual donations, and describes a commitment to universal access to news and programming regardless of ability to pay.
