Prisms of Reality

Prisms of Reality, founded in 2020, builds a VR spatial learning platform with immersive virtual environments, teacher analytics and educator coaching for K-12 maths and science classes.

Prisms of Reality builds a virtual-reality spatial learning platform for K-12 education, with a focus on immersive experience design as a means of teaching. Founded in 2020 by Anurupa Ganguly, an MIT-trained engineer with more than a decade of teaching and curriculum leadership in major American school districts, the company designs virtual environments in which students act as first-person participants in real-world problems - watching a virus spread through a food court to grasp exponential growth, or walking through a landfill to explore linear regression. The experience is built so that kinesthetic and emotional engagement precedes abstraction to symbolic notation and formal mathematical frameworks.

The platform covers Grades 7-11 mathematics and science, and is delivered as a complete instructional system: VR headsets, the learning software, a teacher dashboard offering real-time analytics on student progress, and professional development with continuous coaching for educators. The method rests on research indicating that spatial reasoning is among the strongest predictors of success in the mathematical sciences.

During the 2024-2025 academic year the platform served more than 300,000 students across 35 US states and upwards of 300 school districts, with thousands of educators using it. The company describes its aim as overcoming the limits of flat, two-dimensional instruction and as achieving measurable outcomes for every student served.
